Volunteers sought for fun activities at Riverside Gardens

Riverside Gardens Aged Care home is seeking volunteers to work alongside Recreational Activities Officers and deliver fun activities.

NVC Group Riverside Gardens Service Manager Kylie Kuwert said her team want to deliver Wednesday afternoon pampering sessions for residents, but they need some extra pairs of hands to volunteer.

“Volunteering with elderly residents is such a rewarding thing to do as you have the chance to make a real difference in their lives,” Ms Kuwert said.

“Our Recreational Activities Officers do a great job delivering events and games on a daily basis.

“However to go further and provide weekly, hands-on pamper sessions, they could really use some help from members of our community.

“If you would like to volunteer, you will need to have a current police check. If you do not have one NVC will support you in the process of obtaining one.

“I really encourage anyone with a little bit of spare time on their hands to reach out and join our team at Riverside Gardens. It’s a really rewarding place to visit and work.”

Volunteers are also needed to take residents out of the aged care home, to the nearby Riverside Gardens café and have a cuppa and a chat. Having an interesting conversation helps to maintain and improve the residents’ wellbeing.

Both volunteers and staff entering NVC Group’s residential aged care facilities need to undergo a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before entry and receive a negative result. For volunteers, RAT tests are provided. Masks also need to be worn when inside the aged care home.
