Retirement village residents: want to Move & Groove?

Published: 25 Aug 2023

Regular physical activity can greatly benefit older adults.

According to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, moderate physical activity can positively impact our physical health as well as our mental and emotional wellbeing.

NVC Group Lifestyle Living Village Coordinator, Helen Funnell, said she has organised Move & Groove group exercise classes at NVC Group’s retirement villages to give residents greater exercise choice.

“I’ve organised a local, Jackie Duncan, of Jacs Community Wellbeing to run Move & Groove classes at Riverside Gardens in Nambucca Heads and Fairway Gardens in Macksville soon,” she said.

“Move & Groove is a low to moderate impact class and will incorporate aerobic activity, strength training, and flexibility exercises.

“Classes costing $8 each will need a minimum of five participants to proceed, so I am asking our retirement village residents to let me know if they want to join in.”

Move & Groove group exercise classes will start at Fairway Gardens Wellness Centre on Tuesday, 5 September, from 11.30am. Exercise classes will start at Riverside Gardens Village Heart on Thursday, 7 September, from 10.30am.
