NV College attended the successful Coffs Coast Career Connections on Thursday 16th May 2024. Over 1,200 students from local high schools attended the day.
Coffs Coast Career Connections is an important day for raising the awareness and aspirations of young people about their careers and highlights the options available locally. The event connects young people to education/training providers such as NV College, employment services, employers, apprenticeship/traineeship services, disability providers, government services, and other support services to help them make informed decisions about their future.
“Young people don’t necessarily know what’s available on their doorstep,’ said Jenny Fraser, CEO Mid Coast Connect. “The day is all about showing them what the possibilities are.”
Dionne Court, Head Teacher Senior Studies/Careers Advisor/TVET Co-ordinator/sBAT Co-ordinator, Coffs Harbour High School, said, “Once again, it’s been a fabulous success and very well received by students. My favourite part is when those students who are uncertain and don’t think they want to attend, end up having a fantastic day and have a massive amount of enthusiastic questions afterwards. This expo is vital for our young people and one of the best ways for schools and students to connect on future proofing our local jobs market.”
NV College were kept busy during the expo, with the constant stream of students.
“We were delighted to have the chance to talk about the great, local opportunities we have on offer at the college,” said Jo Harrington from NV College.
