Local businesses beefed up

Butcher shops were among some of the local businesses NVC Group staff chose to spend their Christmas vouchers in.

Data on staff’s spending trends is in and it reveals a total of $17,050 was spent with Chrissy vouchers and it provided a welcome boost to local shops in the Nambucca and Macley Valleys and Coffs Harbour.

NVC Group Hotel Services Manager Beth Laverty said she was grateful some local businesses accepted the Christmas voucher as it was a win-win.

“For the past few years, I have sought interest from local businesses to participate in our Chrissy voucher scheme as it provides both a gift for staff and support for important local businesses,” she said.

“I try to support local businesses by purchasing as much produce locally as I can for NVC Group’s aged care homes and cafes. But I wanted to say a special thank you to business owners who participated in our Chrissy voucher program as it required their trust.”

Tim Wilkes of Macksville Quality Meats said NVC Group’s Chrissy vouchers provided a welcome boost to his business and saw about 40 extra customers come through his door.

“Seeing local businesses support other local businesses is great,” Mr Wilkes said.

“While Christmas is a good time of year for our butchery anyway, having new customers come through our doors and taste our meat’s flavour and see it’s competitively priced is really helpful.”

NVC Group gave staff a $50 Christmas voucher to spend in participating local businesses in Macksville, Nambucca Heads, Valla Beach, Kempsey and Coffs Harbour. If you have a local business and want to participate in the voucher scheme for 2023, please contact Ms Laverty on admin@nvcl.org.au
