This week, NV College hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate the Fijian students who have successfully completed their Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33021). The students were funded by the Australian Government under the PALM scheme’s aged care expansion (ACE) program.
They arrived in the Mid North Coast three months ago to finish the on-the-job practical components of their training. They were also inducted into their new workplaces. The students will be working in Riverside Gardens in Nambucca Heads, Autumn Lodge in Macksville and Cedar Place in Kempsey.
The opportunity to come to Australia has provided these students with paid work. They also have gained new skills and experiences as part of their employment.
All students were recruited by PALM scheme employer NVC Group who is one of several regional businesses to employ Pacific Islanders through the Australian Government’s Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.
At the graduation ceremony, Jacqui Boaden, Lead Trainer and Assessor, said, “To see these students in aged care facilities, caring for our vulnerable, makes us so proud. They are excellent carers.”
