NVC Group cafes are raising awareness of DonateLife Week.
DonateLife is a national awareness week that takes place every year. It encourages more Australians to get behind organ and tissue donation. This year DonateLife Week is taking place from Sunday 27 July to Sunday 3 August 2025.
According to the Australian Organ Donor Register (AODR), 4 in 5 Australians say they support donation, but only 1 in 3 are registered to be a donor. With more than 13 million eligible Australians (aged 16+) who still haven’t registered, everyone can make a difference.
DonateLife Week helps give hope to the 1,800 Aussies who are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Thousands more are on kidney dialysis or waiting for life-changing eye and tissue transplants.
According to AODR, one organ donor can save the lives of up to 7 people.
Café Zen and Blue Gum Café in Macksville are raising awareness for this good cause this week by placing stickers on takeaway cups promoting organ and tissue donations.
“If it encourages a few people to think about donating, it’s been worth it,” said Beth Laverty, Hotel Service Manager, NVC Group, who operates both cafes. “All you have to do is scan the code on the sticker and it’s quick to sign up.”
It only takes a coffee to register at donatelife.gov.au.
