Home Care Packages are giving local seniors great peace of mind.
The Australian Government’s Home Care Package program has four different levels of care, which ensures residents receive a continuum of care from basic care (level 1) to high care (level 4) at home.
Nambucca Heads resident Terry Purcell said being signed-up and approved for a Home Care Package from My Aged Care had given him the ability to live independently in his home for longer.
“It’s good living by myself and I like to take care of myself as much as I can,” he said.
“But now that I am getting older, there are some things that I can’t do myself.
“I currently receive a cleaning lady once a fortnight through my Home Care Package and I am comforted by the ability to get more services in the future as I need it.
“I am losing my sight and I’ve had my hip done five times, so it’s been a bit difficult to get around. I’ve been told I can get nursing care when and if I need it, which gives me great peace of mind.”
NVC Group Home & Community Care Manager Jacqueline Wills said she and her team delivers home services in the Nambucca, Macleay, and Coffs Harbour regions.
“The popularity of the Government’s Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Home Care packages has really grown, and I am pleased to see residents getting the assistance they deserve to keep living well at home,” she said.
“Home services are built around the person’s own needs, through an individual Care Plan, following an assessment by the Government’s Aged Care Assessment Team.
“I would encourage anyone over the age of 65 who has a need for some assistance to visit the My Aged Care website or call 1800 227 475 and find out if they are eligible for any assistance today.”
