Connections made at school expo

Some of our Kempsey employees attended the Schools Industry Connection expo at Kempsey Showground on Thursday.

It was a great chance for Registered Nurses, Hotel Services workers and Administration staff to outline traineeships and school leaver positions often available with NVC Group.

NVC Group Executive Care Manager Mia Resurreccion thanked the NSW Department of Education for hosting the expo through its Regional Industry Education Partnerships program.

“The day provided an excellent opportunity to connect with students and outline to them the vast array of job opportunities available in aged care,” she said.

“As NVC Group is a local, community-owned employer, who has operated in the nearby Nambucca Valley for almost 50 years, connecting with young people is extremely important, as they are our potential future workforce.

“I’d say to any young person unsure about what to do after school, to reach out and give our organisation a call as there’s often opportunities to start your career in Kempsey in either aged care, hospitality or business administration.”

Ms Resurreccion was joined by a colleague at her expo booth who had received work after school with NVC Group. Administration Officer Lauren Laverty, who works at Cedar Place aged care home in Kempsey, said she attended the expo to try and help high school students with questions about what could come next.

“There’s so many opportunities available across the Mid North Coast right now and two of the largest industries are healthcare, including aged care, and tourism,” she said.

“I struck it lucky working with NVC Group as I didn’t realise it, but there are multiple pathways you can take when working for a large organisation.

“I started working as a food server and cleaner in the Hotel Services team and now I am an Administration Officer, and I am completing a Business Medical Traineeship.

“Take the first step, contact a local business – you never know where it might lead.”

NVC Group can offer both training, through Registered Training Organisation NV College, and work placements to the right candidates in aged care, home and community care, hospitality and business administration.
