Christmas in July is sure to bring joy

As the winter chill continues, it’s time to bring some festive cheer into NVC Group’s aged care homes.

Riverside Gardens Service Manager Kylie Kuwert said Christmas in July events are a popular way to celebrate the Christmas spirit, as the weather enables residents to experience a traditional English Christmas.

“We will be celebrating Christmas in July at Riverside Gardens on Thursday,” she said.

“My team will be making holiday-themed food treats and putting up festive decorations.

“One of the highlights of Christmas in July for our residents is enjoying a traditional English-style Christmas roast, which is far more enjoyable in July in Australia, than in December.

“Let’s embrace the spirit of Christmas in July and spread some holiday cheer this winter!”

Christmas in July events are being held at all three of NVC Group’s aged care homes on:

  • Thursday 6 July – Riverside Gardens, Nambucca Heads;
  • Friday 14 July – Cedar Place, Kempsey; and
  • Thursday 20 July – Autumn Lodge, Macksville.

Hotel Services Manager Beth Laverty said the chefs at NVC Group’s three aged care Homes will be serving two different types of traditional Christmas roast.

“Our chefs, cooks and food servers love Christmas in July as it provides the chance to serve wonderful, winter-suited Christmas food,” she said.

“We will be offering roast turkey with cranberry sauce or roast leg ham and seasonal roast vegetables. There will be plum pudding and custard for dessert.

“Our dining rooms will be decorated with festive tableware and bon-bons. And our team’s Recreational Activities Officers will be delivering some fun Christmas entertainment and games.”

Residents’ loved ones are encouraged to visit them for Christmas in July and share a cuppa and a piece of plum pudding in the resident’s room or outdoors. Visitors are still required to book in by calling the aged care home’s administration office and please tell staff of any Christmas in July meal requests when booking.
