Cedar Place in COVID-19 outbreak

Published: 08 May 2023

Our Kempsey aged care home, Cedar Place, is currently experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.

NVC Group Executive Care Manager Mia Resurreccion said the organisation has in place strict infection prevention and control processes and that every step is being taken to reduce the risk of exposure to both residents and staff.

“COVID-19 is still unfortunately in the community and presently we have a few active cases within Cedar Place Residential Aged Care Facility,” Ms Resurreccion said.

“The residents with COVID-19 are either asymptomatic or only displaying mild symptoms and they are being closely monitored by our nursing team.

“Should your loved one living at Cedar Place be impacted by COVID-19, their primary contact would have been directly communicated with by a representative from the home.

“I would like to reassure our residents and our community we are taking the necessary steps to get our residents and staff through this outbreak as safely and as quickly as possible.”

The only change to visitation processes at Cedar Place is visitors attending to visit a resident who is infectious with COVID-19 need to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow guidelines for their visit. Staff at Cedar Place will guide visitors on how to put on (don) and safely take off (doff) their PPE. Routine, daily RAT testing prior to entry is still occurring for staff, contractors, and visitors to the home. For more information regarding visitation, visit our news page here.
